My painting starts with drawing. I draw from life weekly. Frequently during the course of a painting I return to drawing to find the form. A graduate of the Washington Studio School (2002), I consider myself a painter on the bridge between abstraction and realism. I follow the tradition of Titian, Velasquez, DeKooning and Pollock. My goals are to synthesize Titian and Cezanne, to attract a few good students, and to accumulate the 600 guilder “dues” required for admittance as a master in the local Guild of St. Luke.
